Research on heat loss through traditional sash windows, carried out by English Heritage, found that heavy curtains reduced the heat loss by 41%. Just by simply fitting a jacket to your boiler, (gives great insulation), it will keep your water hotter for longer thus reducing costs. The recommended thickness is approximately 75mm, the savings from this is sixty pounds a year.
