Sophisticated thermal limiter
Do you often have kids running around at home? Do you run a nursing home or children's nursery, or any public space that might involve large groups of people getting together in relatively small spaces? The chances are, you've often worried about hands getting scalded on radiators or little ones burning their arms as they brush past. It's something which, until quite recently, has been entirely unavoidable. With traditional boiler powered radiators, one solution might have been to cover the radiator with something when little ones were about, but not only does this make heating your home up even harder, it's also quite dangerous. Other people have tried 'radiator guards', simliar to fireplace guards, but the cages can be unnattractive and cumbersome, and they don't always fit where you want them to go.
The RC Wave has what's called a built-in 'thermal limiter'. What this does is regulate the surface temperature of the radiator so that it's never 'too hot to touch'. Even if you've got your radiator set to make the room an even 23 degrees, and it's pushing heat out into the room to keep you warm, you could still place your hand on it and not get burned. This is one of the most imporant safety features of the radiator, and one which has worked to make it so popular in households up and down the country. It's made possible by its aluminium casing and the way the body of the unit is designed around the dry thermal heating element within.
Other safety considerations
The RC Wave, like many of its kind, has an LCD panel on the body of the unit so you can program a schedule into it and tell it what temperature you'd like the room to be at what time. Of course, once these are set, they usually aren't changed until the seasons change (or a big change occurs and you suddenly start spending lots of time at home). So, to protect the panel from wandering hands there's a childlock build in. It's as simple has holding down a combination of buttons to lock and then unlock - a simple yet effective feature which is lacking from a lot of equivalent models on the market.
It's also worth noting that, since the RC Wave is made up entirely of 100% recyclable aluminium, it's naturally got some sharper edges and corners, but that's also been factored in. Edge protectors are built seamlessly onto the offending edges, making it nearly impossible for you to injure or cut yourself when passing the radiator, and if any kids should accidentally wander into it, they'll come out nothing more than a mild bump on the head...
