R2 Receivers work in conjunction with the T2 Room Thermostat to provide convenient wireless control over the Herschel heaters in your system. Combined together, these two components allow you to manage your Herschel infrared heaters using WiFi.
Please note: the R2 receiver must be paired with a T2 thermostat in order to operate as intended.

Please note: older T1 and R1 thermostats and receivers are not compatible with the T2 and R2 generation of products.
The Herschel R2 receiver must always be used with a T2 thermostat in order to operate. Without the T2 thermostat, the R2 receiver will not provide any temperature control for your infrared heaters.
R2 receivers must be hardwired into your heaters and the mains by a qualified electrician. Do not attempt DIY installation. The receiver should be situated at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliances such as radios, TVs, routers or computers to prevent interference.
This receiver can accommodate a maximum load of 10A (2300W in a 230V standard supply), however, the manufacturer recommends a load of 8.5 Amps (1955W at 230V) if you will be using your infrared heaters on a daily basis.
The iQ thermostat must not be used in a bathroom. Receivers can only be used in bathroom spaces which fall outside the “wet” bathroom zones – in other words, at least 60cm away from any source of running or splashing water. Receivers must not be installed in locations where there is any risk of water contact – whether by dripping, splashing, or touching with wet hands. If in doubt, do not install. Common sense should prevail.
Purchasing additional R2 receivers allows you to expand your Herschel heating system because each T2 thermostat can be paired with an unlimited number of receivers. Heaters that are wired into an R2 receiver can be controlled in two ways: either manually via the thermostat, or using WiFi through the compatible Smart Life app.
Once your heaters are wired into an R2 receiver, they can then be connected to the Smart Life app, so all you need to do to control your heating is reach for your phone. Your heating system will update in seconds with your new commands, using the T2 thermostat to take temperature readings. R2 receivers must be paired with a T2 thermostat in order to operate – without the thermostat they are unable to provide any temperature control.
Each receiver can control a maximum load of up to 10 Amps (2300W in a 230V power supply) but an 8.5 Amp continual load (1955W at 230V) is recommended if you're planning to use your heaters often and for long periods. You can connect an unlimited number of receivers to the T2 thermostat: they will all receive the same commands and run to the same schedule, much like a central heating system controlled by a single thermostat. If you want to control any of your infrared heaters separately, you’ll need to purchase an additional thermostat. Different thermostats can be set to communicate on different frequencies, so there will be no conflict if you use several in one house.
Each Herschel iQ receiver has a built-in heat boost button which can be used to temporarily override your program and switch on the heaters wired into that receiver for an hour. This is a convenient way of extending your comfort without wasting energy and means you don’t have to adjust your programming if you just need a little more warmth.
