Herschel Select XLS Mirror Panels should only be wall mounted, which can be done using the EasyFix brackets and the template provided. However, hardwiring this heater to the mains is not a DIY task and must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
With an IP44 rating, the Herschel Select XLS Mirror Panel is splashproof and suitable for bathroom installation, however, it can only be fitted in Zones 2 and 3, provided the controls cannot be reached from the bath or shower. Again, hardwiring this Mirror Panel in a bathroom must be done by a professional.
It is recommended that the Select XLS Mirror Panel be installed out of reach of any young children or vulnerable adults, as it can reach high temperatures of up to 95 °C. For extra safety, this panel has been made with safety glass that crumbles instead of shattering in the event of impact.
To control the output of the Select XLS Mirror Panel, you will need one of three thermostats form the Herschel Select XLS Control System. A thermostat with programming functionality will allow you to set your heating to your own schedule, saving on energy by heating only occupied rooms. Thermostats for this heater are sold separately.

Herschel Select XLS Mirror Infrared Heating Panels all come with a 5 year warranty that covers both the panel and the receiver.

The Herschel Select XLS Mirror infrared panel has been manufactured with high-quality materials to create a contemporary, frameless design that offers style and sophistication. These mirror panels will camouflage well as a mirror, acting as a practical and decorative room feature, whilst also providing energy-efficient warmth.
The heat produced by the Select XLS Mirror ensures that the mirror will not mist over, keeping the glass clear for use even in rooms where condensation is often present. This infrared heater reaches temperatures between 85 – 95 °C, creating far infrared heat which is absorbed by walls and brickwork to help reduce dampness and stop water vapour from settling, making this infrared panel ideal for bathroom installation. The internal insulation layer makes sure that the heat produced is sent forwards into the room, improving on efficiency and allowing you to feel the full effect of gentle, radiant warmth.
Thermostats
There are three thermostats that are compatible with the Herschel Select XLS Mirror Panels.

Each thermostat comes with intuitive control features to make heating your home easier than ever. Choose the BT Battery Powered Thermostat for full manual control. This device does not have to be hardwired as it only runs on batteries, making it quick and easy to set up. It is also the most suitable option for bathroom installation. For more advanced control, the MT Mains Powered WiFi Thermostat and the PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat provide heat management via an app no matter where you are in the world. Combine these thermostats with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice controlled, hands-free heat management. They each deliver manual control and can be portable or wall mounted. The PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat is not suitable for bathroom installation. All three thermostats must be purchased separately.
The receiver bypass option allows you to wire the panel into an alternate system, which is ideal if you already have other Herschel products working on an existing control system or if you would like to mix and match your heaters.
Benefits of far infrared heating
Infrared heating panels are more efficient because they use radiation, rather than convection. Radiation heats people and objects, instead of just heating the air, which is why it does not get lost to any draughts. This gentle radiant heat is absorbed and then re-radiated from the objects and surfaces in your room, so the space effectively becomes a luxuriously comfortable 360° heater. Unlike convection, radiation doesn’t disturb any dust particles in the air which would be a major benefit for allergy sufferers.
