The Herschel Colorado is not suitable for DIY installation and must be installed by a professional electrician. The Herschel Colorado can be wall and ceiling mounted using the brackets provided, or used freestanding when purchased with a compatible stand. Do not use freestanding patio heaters outside during wet weather – always bring them inside if it begins to rain.
Be sure to mount the Colorado in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines: 500mm from the wall, ceiling, or any other structure, no lower than 1.8m from the floor, and at an angle between 0° - 45° to avoid activating the safety tilt switch.

Although the heated area reduces as the Colorado is brought closer to the floor, the heat given off intensifies – so please bear this in mind when positioning your infrared heaters. See the Herschel Colorado manual for more information.
Another consideration for both indoor and outdoor installations is the sensation of wind chill from open doors, roller shutters, or particularly exposed outdoor areas, all of which can offset the effects of infrared heat. To avoid this in indoor scenarios, we recommend installing the Colorado away from open windows, doors, or shutters. In unprotected outdoor locations, it may be best to opt for a quartz infrared heater, which provides a stronger heat to compensate for the movement of air.
The Herschel Colorado has an IP55 rating, protecting it from low-pressure jets of water and the ingress of fine particles. This IP rating provides adequate protection from the elements but for particularly exposed locations prone to heavy rain and winds, a quartz heater may be a more suitable heating solution.
Please note: the Colorado’s carbon fibre bulb is delicate and care should be taken not to damage it while unpacking and installing the heater.
The Herschel Colorado is a versatile infrared heating system that’s ideal for commercial spaces, both inside and out. Whether you need to heat an open plan outdoor dining area or an industrial loading bay, the Colorado delivers instantaneous warmth with the push of a button.
The Colorado can be purchased in remote or non-remote versions, offering different levels of control depending on its intended use. The remote Colorado is perfect for sheltered outdoor installations, featuring four incremental heater settings ranging from 25-100% outputs, as well as a 1-9 hour timer function. The non-remote Colorado is designed for use in conjunction with a thermostatic controller, offering nuanced temperature control for unenclosed indoor spaces. Using a controller, you can precisely adjust the Colorado’s heat output, set a heating schedule, and allocate different heaters to different areas of your property for complete heating control. Without a controller, the non-remote Colorado will simply heat at full power using the push-button on the face of the heater.
Whatever your requirements, the Colorado provides over 10,000 hours of use with its durable carbon heating element – offering low-glare heating that lacks the harsh brightness of other outdoor heaters. The Colorado can even be made freestanding when purchased with a compatible stand, enabling portable heating. A superb choice for public-facing spaces, this discreetly styled infrared heater blends into the background of any environment – keeping spaces warm and cosy without causing a distraction.
