The Herschel Colorado is not suitable for DIY installation and must be installed by a professional electrician. The Herschel Colorado can be wall and ceiling mounted using the brackets provided, or used freestanding when purchased with a compatible stand. Do not use freestanding patio heaters outside during wet weather – always bring them inside if it begins to rain.
Be sure to mount the Colorado in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines: 500mm from the wall, ceiling, or any other structure, no lower than 1.8m from the floor, and at an angle between 0° - 45° to avoid activating the safety tilt switch.
Using the Herschel Colorado in an indoor space provides the following heats up to areas:
- 3.5m from the floor – 18m²
- 2.5m from the floor – 12m²
Using the Herschel Colorado in an outdoor space provides the following heats up to areas:
- 3.5m from the floor – 12m²
- 2.5m from the floor – 7m²
Although the heated area reduces as the Colorado is brought closer to the floor, the heat given off intensifies – so please bear this in mind when positioning your infrared heaters. See the Herschel Colorado manual for more information.
Another consideration for both indoor and outdoor installations is the sensation of wind chill from open doors, roller shutters, or particularly exposed outdoor areas, all of which can offset the effects of infrared heat. To avoid this in indoor scenarios, we recommend installing the Colorado away from open windows, doors, or shutters. In unprotected outdoor locations, it may be best to opt for a quartz infrared heater, which provides a stronger heat to compensate for the movement of air.
The Herschel Colorado has an IP55 rating, protecting it from low-pressure jets of water and the ingress of fine particles. This IP rating provides adequate protection from the elements but for particularly exposed locations prone to heavy rain and winds, a quartz heater may be a more suitable heating solution.
Please note: the Colorado’s carbon fibre bulb is delicate and care should be taken not to damage it while unpacking and installing the heater.
