  1. What makes the Ascoli different from other designer electric radiators?

    1
    1. The design of the Ecostrad Ascoli elevates it to one of the best in class when it comes to reliable and efficient home heating. It is not a repurposed ‘wet’ radiator converted to electric – the Ascoli has been engineered solely for electric heating which is why it stands head and shoulders above the rest of the designer radiators on the market. Its unique Fast-Flo technology means that the thermal fluid in the Ascoli will always flow across the whole body of the radiator to provide uniform warmth, unlike central heating radiators which are known for poor performance when converted to electric.

Every Ascoli comes pre-filled with a thermal oil and is fully sealed so that when it comes time to install your heater, all your electrician needs to do is remove the seal and screw in the element. This reduces mess and reduces the amount of time it takes to fit your heater, but most importantly, it means that the Ascoli is always filled with the correct volume of oil for optimal heating. The mineral oil inside the Ascoli is specially engineered to retain more heat than a standard oil to provide energy-efficient warmth and has an anti-frost formula which prevents the liquid from freezing even in extremely cold weather.

  2. What is Fast-Flo technology?

    1
    1. Ecostrad Ascoli designer electric radiators have been developed and tested by heating experts to create one of the most advanced electric radiators on the market. Its revolutionary design is all down to its unique Fast-Flo technology and how it optimises the radiator for increased efficiency.

The Ascoli’s Fast-Flo technology was developed because central heating radiators that are converted to electric have a tendency to underperform as their design is not adapted toward this type of use. Hydronic radiators are simply shells designed for the flow of pressurised water as part of a larger central heating system. Once they’re converted into a stand-alone electric heater, there’s no external pressure to move the thermal oil around the body of the appliance, which means parts of the radiator can remain cold. Furthermore, their internal apertures tend to be quite small because the pressurised water would normally be pushed through to create a continuous flow. When switched to electric, it doesn’t have this extra push to move the thermal oil through the pipes of the radiator, often leading to overheating near the element. In a worst-case scenario, this can even cause the electrical element to cut out entirely.

Fast-Flo technology was developed for the Ascoli to directly address these issues. The Ascoli electric radiator has extra-wide internal channels and pipe joints to allow the liquid inside to flow freely. It also takes into account the lack of pressure and has lower collector pipes (the pipes that connect to the front bars) so that the thermal fluid will easily reach every part of the radiator for thorough and even heating. The increased flow inside the Ascoli also means that the electrical element works reliably because overheated liquid isn’t trapped near the element.

Converted central heating radiators are seen as a ‘quick win’ for some suppliers because of their low cost to produce but it’s important to bear in mind that they may not necessarily deliver the reliability you need for every day heating. They often have an attractive price-point but they will never be able to work as efficiently as a radiator that’s been designed solely for electric.

  3. How does Bluetooth heating control work?

    1
    1. Bluetooth heating control lets you manage your heating from your phone or tablet. All you need to do is download an app to your smart device, then pair your Bluetooth heater to the app so that any changes you make to your heating are relayed to your electric radiators. Many people find Bluetooth control exceptionally convenient because you can adjust heaters in your system from a single point of use that’s always to hand. You don’t have to crane down over control panels or stare at a small LCD screen – the user-friendly interface of the app makes programming effortless.

Bluetooth is a form of short-range radio wave so your phone will act like a remote control for the heaters in your system, except you don’t need a direct line of sight for the signals to be relayed to your radiators. It’s important to note that Bluetooth isn’t the same as WiFi though they’re both systems that use smart devices and apps to communicate wirelessly with your electric radiators.

Bluetooth is designed to work when you’re in close proximity to your heaters (i.e. when you’re at home) and is a great choice if you want a centralised control system that’s easily accessible. WiFi will allow you to make changes to your heating over the internet and is better suited to people who want to be able to adjust their settings on the move. If you have an unreliable WiFi connection or patchy signal, Bluetooth control could still work out as the better option because it doesn’t need to communicate with your home router. Even if you lose internet service, you will still be able to adjust your heaters with Bluetooth so though it doesn’t offer distance control, it can be the more reliable option.

  4. What features are included with the Terma Blueline app?

    1
    1. The main energy-saving feature offered by the Terma Blueline app is 24/7 programming, which allows you to create a custom heating schedule that perfectly matches your daily and weekly routine. Start and end times for your heating can be set to the half hour for greater precision and multiple temperatures can be selected throughout the day to ensure total comfort. The MOA Blue heating element that comes with the Ecostrad Ascoli has a fixed 2-hour timer function, however, through the app this can be adjusted between 1 – 240 minutes. Using the app, you can also program your heater using temperature readings from either the internal sensor or the ambient temperature of the room.

To take charge of your bills, the Blueline app includes energy usage statistics so you can see exactly how much power each of your electric radiators uses over the course of the day, week or month. Adding your energy tariff rate will also provide an accurate running cost for your heaters and help you identify where to save money. An adaptive start feature built into the app makes all Ecostrad Ascoli electric radiators Lot 20 compliant and can be set to pre-heat your rooms ahead of time.
