The white Herschel Select XLS infrared panels come with a range of installation options. Choose from wall-mounted, free-standing or even ceiling-mounted fitting options. When ceiling-mounting, the Select XLS must be hardwired by a professional electrician with the plug removed. Mounting the Herschel Select XLS is a straightforward DIY task, just drill into the wall using the template provided and then fit the EasyFix brackets for simple installation. Optional feet must be purchased separately if you are looking for portable, free-standing heating.
These panels are IP44 rated, which means they are protected against splashes of water and can be fitted in Zones 2 and 3 of the bathroom, provided the controls cannot be reached from the bath or shower. For bathroom installation, the Select XLS must be hardwired by a professional. Only the BT Battery Powered Thermostat and MT Mains Powered Thermostat should be used for bathroom installation and must be kept in Zone 3. Always defer to the manufacturer’s guidelines about the bathroom suitability of any product.
For the Select XLS, you will need to install a thermostat to control the heat output of your panel. The Herschel Select XLS is compatible with the Herschel Select XLS Control System which has three different compatible thermostats and all of which are sold separately.

Sporting a modern, slimline aesthetic and simple plug-in installation, the Herschel Select XLS infrared panel is the perfect heating solution. This infrared heater delivers an even spread of gentle radiant warmth, reaching temperatures between 85 – 95 °C when wall-mounted. By featuring an internal insulation layer, the Select XLS sends heat forwards into the room instead of losing it to the rear, ensuring that you always feel the benefit of the heat produced, whilst also improving on efficiency.
With wall-mounted, free standing and ceiling-mounted options, the Select XLS would make a discreet addition to any home, saving on space whilst also delivering comfortable warmth whenever and wherever it is needed. When mounted on the ceiling, this infrared heater will reach temperatures between 95 – 115 °C. This option also removes the risk of any accidental contact with the heater which is ideal for homes with any young children or vulnerable adults.
Thermostats
There are three thermostats that are compatible with the Herschel Select XLS Panels.

Each thermostat comes with intuitive control features to make heating your home easier than ever. Choose the BT Battery Powered Thermostat for full manual control. This device does not have to be hardwired as it only runs on batteries, making it quick and easy to set up. It is also the most suitable option for bathroom installation. For more advanced control, the MT Mains Powered WiFi Thermostat and the PL Plug-in WiFi Thermostat provide heat management via an app no matter where you are in the world. Combine these thermostats with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice controlled, hands-free heat management. They each deliver manual control and can be portable or wall mounted. All three thermostats must be purchased separately.
If you purchase Herschel Select XLS panels and you already have an existing control system, then there is a receiver bypass option that enables you to wire the panel into an alternate system. This is a perfect option if you already have other Herschel products or would like to mix and match your heaters.
Benefits of far infrared heating
Infrared heating panels are more efficient because they use radiation, rather than convection. Radiation heats people and objects, instead of just heating the air, which is why it does not get lost to any draughts. This gentle radiant heat is absorbed and then re-radiated from the objects and surfaces in your room, so the space effectively becomes a luxuriously comfortable 360° heater. Unlike convection, radiation doesn’t disturb any dust particles in the air which would be a major benefit for allergy sufferers.
